Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and U Microfinance Bank Limited have signed a facilitation agreement that will enable SSGC customers to make online payments at thousands of Upaisa payment points (powered by Ufone) across Pakistan.
SSGC continuously strives to add value to its customer-centric approach through well-rounded bill payments including facility of digital payments. This latest collaboration with U Microfinance Bank, which is the first by any public utility in Pakistan, will add a new dimension for SSGC customers in terms of 24/7 bill payment solution.
The Company provides its customers’ options of not just conventional mediums of payment such as its Customer Facilitation Centers and banks but branchless banking choices too that saves the customers hassle of physical presence at payment points.
Commenting on the agreement, Arif Sirhindi, President and CEO U Microfinance Bank said that this agreement is a major milestone in implementing U Microfinance Bank vision of serving the unbanked and under-banked customers across Pakistan though its Branchless Banking initiative.
In his remarks, Zuhair Siddiqui, MD, SSGC reiterated that this initiative is a part of the Company’s technology road map implementation that aims to make the entire system cost effective, efficient and customer-centric.
Upaisa recently carved out a niche internationally when it won the “Best Bank-led Mobile Money Program 2013” Award at Global Mobile Money and Digital Payments Awards held in Dubai.
