SSGC Dispatches Convoy of Relief Goods to Awaran

NEWSRecent earthquakes in Awaran district of Balochistan have left in its wake a trail of destruction, leaving many families displaced.   In keeping with the past tradition, SSGC, being a responsible ‘Corporate Citizen’, arranged to dispatch the   relief goods to Awaran to meet primarily the nutritional needs of its affected people.

SSGC dispatched relief goods, weighing 23,800 kg, comprising of 1,400 bags of food items including cooking oil, milk powder, wheat flour, sugar, salt, red chili powder, match boxes and dates.

The Company initially dispatched the relief goods, weighing 23,800 kg, comprising of 1,400 bags of food items including cooking oil, milk powder, wheat flour, sugar, salt, red chili powder, match boxes and dates, from the Head Office. Each bag contained 17 kilo gram material.

As per instructions of Zuhair Siddiqui, MD, SSGC, the Company’s Administrative Services (AS) Department took the lead in arranging relief goods through a tender process as well as arranging for logistics.

A simple handing over ceremony held at SSGC Head Office on Saturday 12th October 2013, which was attended by Yusuf Jameel Ansari, Deputy Managing Director, Dr. Shahla Naqvi, Senior General Manager and Asif Ali, Ordinance officer of COD representing Pak Army.

Talking to the media, Yusuf Ansari said that today we are handing over the first installment of relief goods, for 1,400 families, costing Rs. 3.5 million. If required by the people of Awaran, SSGC will send another batch of relief goods also. “SSGC has already provided Rs. 20 million for prime Minister’s Relief Fund”, he added.

“In the past too, SSGC has been at the forefront of providing relief goods and setting up camps in the wake of natural calamities such as floods and earthquakes inside and outside Pakistan”, Mr. Ansari elaborated.

He further more stated that SSGC has not only endeavored to expand its gas distribution network in Balochistan for removing a sense of deprivation in the province but has always helped its affected people in times of natural calamities. Dr. Shahla Naqvi, Senior General Manager was also present on the occasion.
