SSGC cricket team shines in Corporate T20 Ramadan Tournament

EVENTDuring the holy month of Ramadan SSGC participated in Corporate T20 Cricket tournament 2013 held at Moin Khan Cricket Academy, DHA Sports Club, Karachi. The tournament was contested by star studded departmental sides such as PIA, Omer Associates, National Bank, Port Qasim Authority, SSGC etc. Although SSGC’s team was rated as underdogs by many experts but the tournament ended with a spectacular performance of our players with team SSGC making it to the semifinals and nearly going through to the finals in a nail biting thriller against star studded Omer Associates .  The tournament also witnessed record breaking fastest century scored by SSGC’s Awais Zia who had represented Pakistan national T20 side. Awais Zia also achieved record of scoring most sixes in the tournament’s history. Although records fell in the bag of Awais Zia, it would be fair to say that SSGC performed tremendously as a team and the role of sports department and its management was very significant in the successful performance of the team. The SSGC team was coached by Saeed Asif and with Mohammed Zafar as Manager.
