KARACHI: SSGC’s Customer Relations Department (CRD), in coordination with SSGC Police, and Distribution Department conducted raids against illegal gas connections in Surjani Town apartments.
Theft was rampant in two apartments located in different areas of Surjani Town, with12 and 16 flats, respectively, through fake service lines which the raiding teams instantly removed. In all, 29 connections and 2 services were removed from the two buildings during the raids.
A total of 2,240 cm gas was being stolen from both the apartment buildings. In the building comprising of 12 flats, 960 cm gas was being stolen monthly while in the one with 16 flats, 1,280 cm gas was being stolen.
As a way forward, the concerned teams will continue to monitor these buildings and others in the vicinity to ensure that there is no misuse of gas through blatant pilferage.
