A pioneering assessment of the structural soundness of above-ground pipelines at 56 main valve assemblies across the transmission pipeline network was conducted for the very first time along with coating integrity surveys of about 500 km by mid-June 2023.
An External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) survey of about 324 km was conducted on pipelines coated earlier with coal tar, marking its inaugural implementation, followed by 20,000 rft of coating repair work by mid-June.
Surveillance of cathodic protection systems was also enhanced with the installation of initially three permanent reference electrodes to supplement new remote monitoring systems. More such activity will follow in the next fiscal year.
