The position is responsible for supervising and managing the planning, design, and execution of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations for gas transmission pipeline projects that involves coordinating with teams, contractors, and field personnel to ensure the successful installation of pipelines using HDD techniques while adhering to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and design of HDD crossing operations, considering project specifications, site conditions, and environmental factors to determine optimal drilling strategies and alignments.
- Collaborate with teams to develop detailed HDD crossing plans, including bore profiles, drilling parameters, equipment selection, and risk assessments, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and geotechnical investigations to assess ground conditions, identify potential obstacles or hazards, and inform the design and layout of HDD alignments.
- Review and evaluate contractor proposals, bids, and technical submissions for HDD equipment, materials, and services, ensuring compliance with project specifications and performance requirements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, landowners, and related stakeholders to obtain necessary permits, clearances, and approvals for HDD crossing activities, facilitating timely project execution.
- Monitor and oversee HDD drilling operations in the field, conducting regular site visits and inspections to verify adherence to approved plans, safety protocols, and environmental mitigation measures.
- Ensure proper documentation of HDD crossing activities, including as-built drawings, bore logs, drilling records, and quality control reports, to support project documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources for HDD crossing operations, tracking expenditures, progress, and performance metrics to achieve project objectives within established constraints.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to address potential hazards and challenges associated with HDD crossing projects, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize project delays and disruptions.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to communicate project status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project requirements and expectations.
