Qualification & Experience:

Bachelor’s (16 years) with at least 9 years or Master’s (18 years) with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience primarily in pipeline integrity management and Cathodic protection. Degree preferably in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from HEC recognized university   Experience of working in Oil & Gas / Public Sector shall be preferred.

 

PEC registration is mandatory. Certification of AMPP(NACE), API, or TWI for Cathodic Protection/ Coating Inspection is Mandatory.

Responsibilities:

    The purpose of this position is to assist in monitoring and protecting assets including distribution pipeline. The position also supports detailed inspections at Corrosion Control Distribution (CCD) stations, test points and pipeline construction projects.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    1. Plan the installation of corrosion-prevention systems including cathodic protection and protective coatings for distribution pipelines.
    2. Review detailed designs for corrosion prevention systems, cost estimates and bid documents.
    3. Participate in the evaluation of bids and selection of contractors.
    4. Plan, direct and supervise inspection related activities in the field for mechanical and instrumentation, corrosion monitoring, cathodic protection and metallurgical condition.

    6. Provide assistance to General Manager in the preparation, monitoring and control of yearly Capital Expenditure (CapEx) budget.
    7. Ensure and monitor implementation of policies and procedures regarding corrosion control of assets and undertake required corrosion control work for pipelines and systems.
    8. Manage various surveys and ensure timely development of Coating Rehabilitation Plan in view of the findings from surveys and assessments.
    9. Ensure troubleshooting, adjustment and repairs for testing devices, equipment and systems in order to prevent corrosion.
    10. Perform investigation of corrosion related problems in the field through organizing surveys including bi-annual pipe-to-soil potential surveys, direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) surveys of new and old Distribution lines, close interval potential survey (CIPS), fortnightly inspection of Cathodic Protection Stations, periodic technical audit of existing CP System in Distribution, pipeline integrity assessment for external corrosion and CP instruments and renovation of Ground-bed.
    11. Coordinate activities with other service providers and/or vendors, where necessary.
    12. Perform health assessment of the existing coating system is undertaken as part of the pipeline integrity assessment program.
    13. Develop and arrange coating rehabilitation plan in view of the findings and recommendations of the pipeline integrity assessment. 
    14. Develop corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems through material specifications, calculations and graphic and statistical analysis, power assessment and evaluation of survey data, confer with departments responsible for contracts, environmental compliance and right-of-way procurement.
    15. Arrange Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for newly laid distribution pipelines.
    16. Monitor alternate energy sources i.
    17. e., Thermo Electric Generators (TEG), Solar Panel systems, battery backup systems, etc. in order to ensure appropriate working condition so that un-interrupted Cathodic Protection operations are carried out.
    18. Ensure up-to-date material specifications and standard application procedures for coating and wrapping of pipelines.

    20. Perform timely renewal of Ground Beds activities of different sections based upon its conditions and renewal requirements.

    22. Perform the installation of Cathodic Test Posts and record the pipe to soil potentials in order to maintain the integrity of pipeline.
    23. Ensure monitoring, recording and reporting of impress current level at cathodic protection (CP) stations on a monthly basis.
    24. Analyze the CC survey reports and feedback on coating deterioration and revalidate the Pipeline Integrity Assessment and identify the vulnerable sections.
    25. Review the reports regarding corrosion monitoring received from the assigned areas and accordingly guide action.
    26. Ensure timely and accurate procurement of necessary material and equipment and follow up on all capital works of the department.
    27. Manage, motivate and train the staff to provide Corrosion Control (CC) of underground infrastructure from corrosion and rust by applying cathodic protection.
    28. Supervise new under construction pipeline projects and monitor and check the status of coating at the time of handing over of the new project.
    29. Participate in the evaluation of bids and the selection of contractors.
    30. Establish and maintain a professional relationship with local, regional, and national organizations.
    31. Identify and assess risks under their management/ownership.
    32. Develop and implement risk response strategies for the risks under their management.
    33. Monitor risks and response strategies under their management.
    34. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of information provided for risk reporting.
    35. Undertake any other task assigned by immediate supervisor.
