The purpose of this position is to oversee the application of NDT technique on SSGC’s pipeline. Further, this position also requires managing manage land acquisition requirements for projects relating to transmission pipeline and compression stations. The incumbent ensures timely arrangement of land for projects and coordinates with the external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize non-destructive testing (NDT) services through a third-party service provider in order to obtain impartial and independent assessment of the pipeline condition.
Ensure that the service provider applies NDT in accordance with international standards, well-designed procedures, trained and certified inspectors. Review the service provider’s report and assessment data. - Ensure application of NDT testing technique to monitor the integrity and reliability of pipelines and to detect defects and irregularities before they result in severe damage or non-compliance.
- Review the third-party welding tenders including bill of quantities and technical details.
Provide technical inputs in the tender documents.- Check the method statements and standard operating procedures for project monitoring and control purposes.
Seek approval of the documents from Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSE & QA) department. - Monitor the plan to execute the third-party inspection and construction activities.
Supervise the activities pertaining to non-destructive testing. - Implement and oversee quality assurance measures for NDT processes.
Ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards in all NDT deliverables.- Conduct comprehensive assessments of critical infrastructure using NDT techniques.
Provide insights into the structural integrity and reliability of components within the natural gas transmission system.- Monitor or witness pipeline project activities including excavation, pigging, commissioning and finally handing over to the Transmission department.
- Prepare pre-qualification tenders of inspection, NDT testing and other jobs including welding, radiography etc.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for land acquisition for future projects, ensuring alignment with SSGC's overall objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the planning of land utilization for natural gas infrastructure projects, optimizing space for pipelines, compressor stations, and other facilities.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and conduct due diligence in land transactions, mitigating risks and ensuring the integrity of SSGC's land-related activities.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to effectively allocate resources for land-related activities.
Manage budgets to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.- Work closely with design and engineering teams to coordinate land requirements for various projects, ensuring seamless integration with overall project plans.
- Facilitate community engagement initiatives related to land acquisition, addressing concerns, and promoting positive relationships with local communities.
- Collaborate with environmental experts to conduct assessments, ensuring that land activities align with environmental sustainability goals.
- Lead the planning activities to determine the most feasible pipeline route through organizing engineering surveys and with the use of tools including satellite maps.
- Organize the reconnaissance site survey using GPS, camera and other tools to determine the tentative route of the pipeline with the number of crossings along the route.
Coordinate with external stakeholders for feedback and inputs on the pipeline route. - Identify and assess risks under their management/ownership.
- Undertake any other task as assigned by superiors.
