Responsibilities:

    Job Summary

    The incumbent is responsible for organizing independent internal audits of SSGC and its subsidiaries’ functions and reporting of the detailed findings to the audit committee of the board of directors. The position provides an overall leadership and guidance role in the company’s internal audit program that seeks to verify compliance status of the prescribed company policies, procedures, applicable regulations and systems while highlighting areas for improvements in internal controls and business risk and collectively optimizing the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance of the company.

     

    Core Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Seek guidance from the board’s Audit Committee on the overall direction of the internal audit program and considers the board’s directives as well as high risk areas while preparing the annual audit plan.
    2. Ensure that the annual audit plan adequately includes a combination of information systems audit, process audit and periodic inspections amongst other audit activities.
    3. Review annual audit plans, using appropriate risk-based methodology- including risk and internal concerns identified by management or internal audit.
    4. Plan process audit with a view to evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of the processes of SSGC functions including finance, supply chain, customer services and management services for controlling activities and managing risks.
    5. Ensure that key risks and areas of improvements are identified for activities pertaining to the Head Office, project offices, field camps, distribution regions and transmission offices.

    7. Responsible for ensuring Internal Audit is closely aligned with industry best practices in executing the duties across the Companies business and financial operations.
    8. Lead Internal Audit by implementing action plans related to risk assessment and annual planning, audit execution, audit reporting, staff recruiting and development, audit technology, and Audit Committee reporting.

    10. Lead Internal Audit’s annual risk assessment and planning process to develop the audit plan and ensure the plan is responsive to and aligned with the risk profile of the organization.
    11. Oversee Internal Audit’s participation in critical business and technology initiatives and projects ensuring that audit’s perspective is effectively voiced and appropriate controls are designed and implemented on a proactive basis.
    12. Organize special audit assignments on the request of Board of Directors, Sub-committees of the Board and the Managing Director.
    13. Develop and periodically review with management and the Audit Committee the Internal Audit mission, and adapting it, as necessary, to encompass, changes to the company’s services, organization and objectives.
    14.  Ensure direction, supervision and training to Subsidiaries audit functions.
    15. Ensure compliance of approved Internal Audit Charter.
    16. Lead Financial & Operational, Technical and IT audit sections of Internal Audit.
    17. Ensure that the Internal Audits are conducted in accordance with the standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors and standards for Information Systems Auditing issued by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
    18. Attract, hire, retain and coach a team of high-performing audit professionals who possess outstanding knowledge, experience, ethics, and integrity.
